Super Cambodi is a classic oud oil with bold undertones of sweet wood, musk, and fresh tobacco. The dry down offers hints of fruit, cork, leather, and molasses and carries a syrupy smokiness akin to that found in burnable raw oud wood. *New batch, hydro-distilled.

After a long hiatus, Oudimentary is happy to have a Malaysian oil back on its roster! We picked this one up on our last buying trip in South East Asia, and are happy to add it to our ever growing list of our oils.

Hailing from the border between Malaysia and Thailand, on the Northeastern most part of the Malaysian peninsula, our Malaysian Premier is a unique example of a Malaysian oil with sweet notes more common to Cambodian oils. Aged over a decade, wild harvested.

The initial hit is subdued spice with main notes of cinnamon and tamarind. The berry notes begin soon after, and continue, softening into a nice cherry tobacco and sweet wood dry down.

Tarakan Island is located off the coast of East Kalimantan in Indonesia close to the Malaysian border. The majority of the island is covered in mangrove swamps, which happen to be prime growing ground for gaharu. Some of the most unrivaled Indonesian woods and oils come from the wild-harvested trees from Tarakan, and in our indomitable search for the finest oils in the world, Oudimentary unearthed a lovely batch for your pleasure at a mid-range price.

Tarakan oils have less sweet notes than our Cambodi and Thai oils. Think along the lines of a morning walk through the rainforests of Borneo—as you walk, dew drips, birds call, and the shade of the jungle trees invites you. Continuing on, you smell a fresh, distinct sharpness, which slowly gives way to deeper jungle air, earth and organic life. As you become more aware of your surroundings, notes of pine and herbs begin to manifest. Long lasting, unique.

Oudimentary is excited to add yet another Indonesian oil to our roster. We came across this fine specimen of aquilaria oil from Pekanbaru, Indonesia, located on the Island of Sumatra.

It's an overall “green” scented oud with less sweet, fruity notes, offering a more earthy profile. Top notes include pine and leather, which gives way to a jungle/fresh earth bottom note. Super Assam is the pinnacle of a classic Indian oud wood with a rich, rustic spice that puts it in a class of it's own. Top note hints of balsamic vinegar and leather hover over barnyard basenotes, giving way to a dark cholcoate dry down. We sourced this new distillation from suppliers who live and distill oud oil in the famed North-Easternmost Indian state of Assam. *New distillation.
