If you haven’t used any East Indonesian oud woods before, you are in for a real treat. Imagine yourself outdoors and sitting around a campfire or walking through the forest just after its rained. The species is Gyrinops rather than the usual Aquilaria of mainland South East Asia. This Gyrinops is distinct and offers less spice and brings a grassy sweetness instead. Great choice for fumigation of clothes, especially paired with one of our Indonesian oud oils. An excellent oud wood at a great price.

Notes: Leather, chicory, cherry tobacco

Our customer favorite! Thin, lightly-colored pieces, are packed with the Cambodian sweetness so popular in the oud world. With notes of leather, chicory, and cherry tobacco, this oud wood is superior for scenting clothes—and rooms—and pairs beautifully with one of our Cambodi or Thai oud oils. Sourced directly from the mountainous border region between Cambodia and Thailand.

Notes: Cinnamon, chicory, roasted hazelnut, burnt sugar

Oudimentary sources this oud wood from a supplier native to the Assam region. He divides his time between South East Asia and Assam, overseeing his farms, from which this oud wood is harvested. On our last visit with him, he presented this oud wood, saying that there was finally a farm-raised oud wood that offered a complex scent profile similar to other Assam wild oud woods. These are smaller pieces with an impressive amount of resin. Notes include cinnamon, chicory, roasted hazelnut, and burnt sugar amongst others. Not too sweet, as is common with Indian oud woods, but a lovely scent profile which is great for fumigation.

Notes: Cinnamon, tamarind, freshly baked bread

Offers a long burning, syrupy smoke with an initial hit of subdued spice and main notes of cinnamon, tamarind, and freshly baked bread. Not a particularly sweet burn, like most Malaysian and Indonesian oud woods, but a beautiful one for sure—great for fumigation of clothing. Produces a long burning, syrupy smoke. Hailing from the Sultanate of Terengganu on the Northeastern most part of the Malaysian peninsula, our Malaysian Special is a classic example of a hard, resinous Malaysian oud wood from the Aquilaria Malaccensis species. Wild harvested.

Notes: Cinnamon, chicory, roasted hazelnut, burnt sugar

Hailing from the Papua region of Indonesia, Oudimentary’s wild-harvested, Merauke oud wood has that classic East Indonesian kick. 

If you haven’t used any East Indonesian oud woods before, you are in for a real treat. The species is Gyrinops rather than the usual Aquilaria of mainland southeast Asia. The oud wood from Gyrinops is a world away from typical Cambodi and Lao woods, with not much sweetness or usual tones of dried fruit, etc. It is distinct and offers less spice and brings a grassy sweetness instead.

Our Merauke oud wood is a much more grassy burn with a hint of firewood and an almost sweet bread-like top note.

This oud wood can be used for: Meditation, burned as a fragrance to scent space,  clearing impurities from the air, creating positive energy, and a relaxing and calm environment.

This jewel from Southwest Thailand exudes the classic chocolate and leathery notes of a Cambodi oud wood with the sharp, earthy smokiness typical of high grade Thai oud woods. Our acquisition team worked hard to bring you an oud wood fitting of your regal taste and we are sure you will appreciate this phenomenal wood. Paired with our Private Reserve Cambodi oud oil, you have a match that quite simply, might be the most beautiful scent in the world.

Notes: Amber-chicory, leather, dried fruit

Introducing one of our favorite acquisitions this year. Farm raised Chinese Kinam from the Hainan region of China. These dense, lightly-colored pieces, are packed with sweetness and a sharp, earthy smokiness typical of high grade oud wood. 

It has copious amounts of natural, magnificent, resin - beautiful and bubbling. With notes of leather, amber-chicory, and dried fruit, this oud wood is superior for scenting clothes—and rooms—and pairs beautifully with one of our Cambodi or Thai oud oils. Grab some before it's gone!
