What an oud

I received my order of Imperial Chinese last week. It’s gorgeous. It’s not from the typical Agarwood tree species, but from Aquilaria Sinensis in Guangzhou which is commonly called the Incense Tree in China. Its Oud production and cultivation are significant in the Guangzhou region. It starts off slightly bitter, giving it a medicinal note. Soon this passes and moves to a leathery/woody and incense tone. I see I got the last 3ml bottle of it (and a special thanks to oudimintary for not dropping their offerings to 2.5ml like so many other sellers to increase their profits). The woody dries down to a cedar heart note finish with a slightly leather note. It smells a little like inground white pepper. I've been buying from these folks for 8 years now and in 2025 they just get better. Congrats on sourcing/distilling a regal Oud that dries close to the skin with all its woody goodness! I remain a devoted fan.
